Delayed.

As I sat at the airport today waiting for my flight, I was thinking (and I had a lot of time to do that) about delays. Flight delays can be so frustrating. It’s like, do I go to the bathroom? do I grab something to eat? form a flash mob with my fellow strugglers? Flight delays can last hours (in my case, of course),  and you might not have anything to do. You are just solely relying on the airport and flight crew to eventually get you where you are going. As I was sitting there waiting and thinking about the idea of delay, I realized that delays can also be found in our walk with Christ. We call on the Name of Jesus when we need His provision, or His hand in our lives. When we don’t hear back immediately from the Lord, we get impatient. However, the Lord’s timing is not the same as our timing. In fact, it is far different. 2 Peter 3:8 says this, “…With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” No matter how long it takes, the Lord always answers prayers. Whether it’s a no or a yes, His answer is far better than anything we ever could have imagined. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us. And if we know that He hears us- whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of Him.” ~ 1 John 5:14-15.  God is listening. He hears your prayers, and He will answer them in His timing. Just like at the airport, it’s hard waiting and feeling like you have nothing to do. But God is working even in your current circumstances. Rely on your Pilot to move in your life where you are, and He will get you where you need to go. Stop trying to get to the future on your own, and be content with where God has you right now- in the waiting area.
